THE RUGBY GAME. KOHN SHIELD . MATCH. The annual Rugby football maich for the Kohn Shield botween teams representing the Wellington and Auckland Tra-mways, will be played at Victoria Park this afternoonThe trophy, which was presented by the late Mr; A. Kohn, is held by Wellington, who defeated Auckland at Wellington last year. Both teams have been considerably improved this season, and a close game is expected. Mr. W. A. Wright, M.P., despatcEe'd the following telegram to the manager of the Springboks m Christchurch:—"Congratulations on your win at Wellington. There is a general desire here for a .return match at the end of your tour. Are you agreeable? If so, will submit your reply to the New Zealand Union." Consideration has been given to the proposal to match the Springboks against the Maoris. It is now practically certain that the game, will be arranged Suggestions for a definite fixture will be placed before the New Zealand Rugby Union's Management Committee on Thursday evening for confirmation. Williams; forwards. C Borell. THE ASSOCIATION GAME, MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Football Association met last evening, Mr. D. Williams presiding. It was dec-ued to accept September 10 as the date for the Brown Shield match against Wellington, at Wellington, provided that team holds the trophy after the match with Canterbury on Saturday. The second division match, Metropolitan B v. Northcote, which was set down tor last Saturday, was awarded to Metropolitan B owing to Northcote iaii ng to turn out. A letter was received from the City Council Reserves Committee granting the use of No. 1 ground. Victoria Park, for special matches.
