RAILWAY SETTLEMENT.
THE LOCOMOTIVE BRANCH.
MISUNDERSTANDING REMOVED [BT TELEGKATH.—OWN CORnKSrONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Tuenday. The Prime Minister stated after a lengthy conference with the representatives of the locomotive branch of the railway service that a satisfactory understanding had been reached in connection with the dispute concerning standing time. A certain clause of the agreement adnuttedlv was ambiguous, and the interpretation placed upon it by officers of the department had not been approved by the men. The dispute really had been duo to a misunderstanding, and ho thought there need he no further trouble. The delegates are reporting to the executive of the E.F.C.A. They indicated this evening that their "interview with the Prime Minister had been of a satisfactory nature.
