YACHTING.

ROYAL N.Z. YACHT SQUADRON. RACES THIS AFTERNOON. A general handicap for yachts will be held by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron this afternoon, starting at half-past two o'clock. The course is from a starting line between the tower on the end of King's Wharf and a boat moored due north, thence round the light beacon off the Bastion, round the beacon off Rangitoto reef, returning -same,- way, rounding the mark-boat at starting line, twice round, finishing at the starting line. Yachts must, keep to. the channel side of all fairway marks, luminous buoys, and Bean Rock lighthouse. All marks to be kept on port hand going out and on starboard hand when returning. The entries are as follows: Ariki, lorangi, Moana, Ida, Rawene, Victory, Ngatira, Little Jim. Windward. Scout, and Celox. The handicaps will be declared this morning and will be posted in the squadron rooms at eleven o'clock. An open race for 14ft. one-design boats will also be held by the squadron this afternoon, starting at three o'clock. The course is from starting line round Resolution buoy, thence round Sandspit beacon, the round mark-boat off King's Wharf, twice round, finishing at starting line. All turning marks must bo rounded on the port hand. The entries are £« follows :—Iron Duke, Betty. Meteor, Edna, Kewpie, Idler, and Silver Link. Further entries will be received at the squadron rooms up till ten • o'clock this morning.

i N.Z. POWER-BOAT ASSOCIATION. I RACE TO ARKLE'S BAY. The New Zealand Power-boat Association I will hold a cruising race this afternoon, startj ing at 2.30 from between the launch Q.P. i and the club pavilion. 'The destination is ! Arkle's Bay, but in the event of the wind , being "in " the raco will be to Rocky Bay. I Competitors will be advised prior to the race i jof the destination. If the race is to Arkle's •, , Bay boats will keep outside Sandspit light only and finish between the launch Jean and \ a dinghy moored east.
