NEEDS OF THE PACIFIC. MORE CABLES URGED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 10.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Dec. 8. The conference which has been held here as a preliminary to the forthcoming International Communications Conference has issued a report stressing the desirability of more cables between North America and Australia and New Zealand, and recommending the establishment of an electrical communications council to be constituted of representatives from Britain, France Italy, (Japan, the United States, and other nations. The committee also recommends that the Great Powers should agree to forbid the granting of exclusire cable-landing or wireless rights.
