A CONSTITUTIONAL QUESTION

SEAT MAY BE CHALLENGED. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE, Dec. 9. The validity of Mr. W. M. Hughes' seat in the Federal Parliament has been questioned under the section of the Constitution providing that in the case of any member accepting fees or honorarium for services rendered to the Commonwealth his seat shall become vacant. No action is contemplated till the meeting of Parliament at Easter time.

Mr. Huehes recently accepted a cheque for £25,000 from his admirers throughout the Commonwealth and in London in recognition of his work in Australia.
