RESERVE FOR PUKEKOHE.
LOAN PROPOSAL REJECTED.
The Pukekohe Borough Council's proposal to raise a loan of £4100 for the purpose of acquiring Roose's Bush, comprising an area of about 22 acres of beautiful native bush, for a scenic reserve and recreation ground, was rejected by the ratepayers at a poll held yesterday. Out of 800 ratepayers on the roll only 84 votes were recorded; 40 in favour of the proposal, and 43 against, with one informal vote.
