WORK OF REPATRIATION.

DISTRICT BOARD'S ACTIVITIES.

The Auckland District • Repatriation Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. A. W. Gillies, presiding. Thirty business applications were dealt with, 13 being recommended, 13 not recommended, one held over, and three withdrawn. There were 71 furniture applications, 64 being granted, three held over, and four declined. Thirty names were on the employ ment register at the commencement ot the week, and 33 further applications were received. Of the total, 24 men were placed, and eight, who failed to reply to communications, were deemed employed, leaving 31 names on the register. Twenty men were granted the retained portion of their subsidy, having completed their training, three were granted loans for tools of trade, one was granted sustenance while at a technical school, and five were placed in workshops and factories as trainees under the subsidised workers' scheme.
