CHECK FROM SINN FEIN.
OVERTURES REPUDIATED. A SCENE IN THE COMMONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrieht. (Received 10.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON, Dec, 7. The Sinn Fein organisation has issued a statement that the telegram sent by its Acting-President, Father O'Flanagan, to Mr. Lloyd George, asking the Prime Minister what proposals for peace he had to offer, expressed merely a personal opinion, and had not the executive's sanction. In the House of Commons, Mr. Bonar Law said that no reply had yet been sent to Father O'Flanagan." Sir Hamar Greenwood, Chief Secretary for Ireland, said there could be no successful truce until the extreme leaders of the Irish Republican army surrendered or were arrested. (General cheers.) Mr. J. Devlin (Nationalist) asked if that was a declaration of war to the finish upon Ireland. Interruption ensued, and Mr. Devlin turned to the "Ulster Unionist benches and cried: "Shut up, you dogs. After some uproar had subsided, Sir Hamar Greenwood said that there was no question of war against Ireland, but the Government was bound to take action against the extremists. RAID ON DUBLIN COUNCIL.
