The committee of the Auckland Auto- ~. mobile Association met last evening, Tit:"'--■'■ C. B. Rossiter presiding. . \ Notification was received from the City ■'■■ Council that the site of the suggested "V parking ground for motors in Park Road outside the Auckland Don.&in was not in
the boundary of the city, and would coos under the jurisdiction of the Newmarket Borough Council. It was" therefore decided to make a similar application to that council. '"''*_
In reply to a request from the association that warning devices be placed at the .- level crossing near the Taupiri railway station, the Railway Department wrote stating that automatic alarm bells would not be suitable, as two sidings as well as the main line crossed the road- It v,-as .'; explained that during the daytime a porter acted as crossing-keeper, and it wis * considered that this provided Teasoteble :"• protection. " , The secretary reported that the superintendent of fire brigades was not in favour of the proposed park for motors in private" | road between Darby Street and Victoria Street West. The necessity for a place to park cars during theatre time was again j emphasised and as the express stand in ' Victoria Street West was available at nights it was decided to encourage the use of this stand by subsidising an attendant, who would, upon payment of a small fee, take care of all cars parked there by members of the association. -S-Wl
