SUPREME COURT BENCH.
SIR J. SALMOND AS JUDGE. CONGRATULATIONS FROM BAR (By TELEGBAPII. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Sir John Salmond took his seat for the first time as a Judge of the Supreme Court this morning, and was officially welcomed and congratulated by the Wellington Bar. The courtroom was filled by members of the Bar and the Magisterial Bench.
Sir John Find lay, K.C., expressed, on behalf of the Wellington law Society, and the whole legal profession of New Zealand, pleasure at Sir John Salmond's appointment. It had given double cause for congratulation, because the profession recognised that the Supreme Court Bench had for months and years been greatly overworked. They now had gratification in tho appointment of one of their most eminent jurists. .
