STOREKEEPER'S AFFAIRS.
BANKRUPTCY AT PAPATOETOE. A me* ting of the creditors in the bankrupt, est-Ue of Mrs. Bertha King, of Fapatoctoe, was held in the office of the official assignee, Mr. W. S. Fisher, yesterday. The liabilities were stated to bo £457 5s Cd, and the assets nil, It was stated that Mrs. King's husband was adjudicated bankrupt about a year ago. The debts, which included £100 interest upon a mortgage, were incurred by the bankrupt's husband, who conducted a store at Piha in her name. It was stated that the busi- | ness was a paying proposition, but for the , fact that supplies had been drawn from it for another store being run at Karc ! karc, without a quid pro quo being given. The, bankrupt said all her assets had been ' swallowed up in her husband's bunk- ! ruptcy. The meeting was adjourned for a week.
