WAR WEALTH TAXATION
NEW SCHEME SUBMITTED.
TO PRODUCE £500,000,000. A. and N.Z. LONDON. April 27. The Committee on the Taxation of War Fortunes has practically agreed on a scheme embodying a scale of abatement in respect of war wealth. ' If the war wealth is assessed at under £25,000 the abatement will be 100 per cent, if the assessment is between £26,000 and £50,000, the abatement will be 65 per cent., and if between £200,000 and £500,00<k it will be 31 per cent. The diminished value of money will be taken into account in drawing up the final scheme. It is estimated that £500,000,000 -will be forthcoming from 75,000 taxpayers.
