—_—ii». Dr. A. W. Izard, of Wellington, is at the Royal Hotel. Mr. Justice Hdsking left for Wellington by the mid-day express yesterday. Mr. J. H. C. Bond, late general traffic manager for the Union Steam Ship Company, at Dunedin, arrived from the South yesterday. Mr. N. A. Carr, president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, arrived in Auckland yesterday, and is at the Grand Hotel. Captain G. Hooper, of the training ship Amokura, has been appointed nautical adviser and chief examiner of masters and mates, says a Press Association message. Admiral R. Copland-Sparkes, R.N. (retired), C.M.G., of' Surrey, England, is on a visit to Auckland. He is accompanied by Mrs. Copland-Sparkes. They are at the Grand Hotel. Mr. S. D. McMiken, formerly superintendent for the Komata Reefs Goldmining Co., Ltd., returned to Auckland by the Niagara, after spending 12 months in Canada and the United States. In Boston Mr. McMiken underwent a serious head operation; ' Miss F. M. Girdler and Miss G. Watkin, comprising the British Oversea Settlement Mission, who have been on a visit to Rotorua and the Waikato. will return to Auckland to-day. They will. stay at the Grand Hotel until Tuesday, and will revisit Auckland after the New Year.
