PASTORS IN PENURY.
MORE PAY OR CELIBACY. CONGREGATIONAL COMPLAINT LONDON,-Nov. 19. Speakers at the Congregational Union at Bradford bitterly denounced the miseries of the pastors, owing to the heavy taxation and high prices. Sir J. MacClure, the chairman, said that Congregationalists were faced with a clear issue- They must either give the pastors better pay, or adopt the Catholic tenet of •celibacy for the clergy in their churches.
