A slight improvement in regard to the cases of influenza in the Auckland health district was denoted yesterday by the fact that the number of not.r rations re--IVe d. by the district health officer showed a reduction as compared with the number on the other days of the present week Yesterday 10 new cases were recorded, comprising eight in the citv and suburban area and two in country districts. Two are considered severe 'cases. In addition, one case of pneumonia, in a country district, was 'notified. Yesterday's notifications bring the total for the present week to 68. A satisfactory feature is that few were reported to be of a serious nature. The district health officer Dr. H G H. Monk, stated yesterday that he had been informed by various medical men that the majority of the cases were of the simple catarrhal type, patients show, ing a high temperature one dav and normal conditions on the next. He emphasised the need for taking prompt precautions.
