AMENDMENT OF POLICY. j STORY OF WAR WORK. ! The National Triennial Convention of the Y.W.C.A. -was held yesterday in the I association's building in Upper Queen Street. At the business session there was considerable discussion regarding suggestions for different policies of work from those used in the past. The most important resolution passed made provision for the opening of clubs and social centres outside of association membership. In the afternoon, Mrs. J. McKail Geddes entertained the delegates at Hazelbank, and after afternoon tea, the guests assembled in the drawingroom to listen to the story of special war work done in Scotland and England by Miss CraigRobertson, and by Miss Ballantyne, who was engaged in the work of the international women's street patrol in London. Last ovoning recommendations tor a national publication, the extension of hostels and clubs in country towns where possible, and community work, were discussed. The convention carried the following resolution :'' That realising the menace which Australia and New Zealand face in the spread of venereal disease, due to all causes, it is resolved that as an association, and in co-operation with other agencies, we will do our utmost to minimise this evil (1) by constructive and fa?reaching physical and Tecreative programme; (2) by a definite programme of education along the lines of social morality within our membership, and in the community (3) by furthering legislation directed at this evil."
