ACCIDENTS AT RACECOURSE.
JOCKEY SLIGHTLY HURT.
BOY IN GRAVE CONDITION.
Two accidents occurred at the Avondale racecourse on Saturday afternoon. The victims were a jockey named Frederick Speakman and a boy named Walter Whyle. Rpeakman, who lives at Railway Street. Elierslie, received facial injuries through hie mount, Sir John, falling in the Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase. His condition is not considered to be serious. The boy, Walter Whyle, aged nine, son of Mr. Joseph Whyle, of Seaview Road, Avondale, received serious internal injury, as a result, it is stated, of being kicked by a horse. He was operated upon immediately after admission to the hospital, and though he has regained consciousness, his condition is very grave.
