CONFERENCE CONCLUDED. QUESTION OF COOL STORAGE. [Bt TEfcEOBArH.—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.) CHRIBTCEUBCH, Friday. The Poultry Conference concluded its sittings to-day. The Auckland remits held over from the previous day were rejected, although tho. remit by tho Auckland Poultrykeepers' Association urging that tho Government be requested to publish the results of egg-laying competitions in the Agricultural Journal monthly was supported in later remits by tho New Zealand Utility Club, which were adopted. A remit from the Canterbury egg circle was adopted, that tho Government be urged to prohibit the importation of eggs .n any form except for breeding purposes. The Auckland delegates stated that the Auckland Patriotic Association _ intended to spend a large sum of money m placing returned soldiers, on poultry farms and it was urged that these men should bo protected from the Asiatic egg menace. ■ It was resolved that the Government bo asked to prevent an increase in tho price of pollard and bran, and to import fowl, wheat from Australia if necessary to relievo the poultry industry. The Government is to be oskod to grant poultrymen tho same financial assistance for building cool storage as is granted to I orchardists. / The Auckland delegates helped the discussion by explaining how they overcame tho difficulty of securing cool storage for . their surplus summer supplies. j Mr. F. C. Brown, chief Government instructor, said that the remit was the most important that had been before the conference. Cool storago of eggs had proved itself and now they must look to the cool chamber to 'build up their industry. _ A Southern remit was that the association request the Government to deviso means for the destruction of stoats, weasles. and ferrets. Norther* deVites, especially those from Auckland, urged the incluslri of hawks. This was agreed to, and tho remit, as amended, h» agreed to. It was resolved that the Government bo asked to give 12 medals or ribbons annually for competition in each island ifor popular breeds in fowls and ducks the open and utility section. ' Several remits were referred to tho exocutivo. The next conference is to bo held at Dunedin. The election of officers resulted: --President. Mr. A. S. Holmes (Auckland); vicepresidents, Mr. E. J. Ross (Christchurch), Mr. H. H. Armstrong (Masterton); secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. B. Merrett ' (Christchurch); executive board, Messrs! E. Cai:ichan (Wellington), H. Chijds (Cnristohurch), H. M. Boddingfon (Masterton), S. Dick (Christchurch), A. Love (Dunedin); adviser, Mr. F. Brown, chief Government instructor. A complimentary dinner was given to the delegates by tho Now Zealand Utility Club and Christchurch Poultry Club.
