FRENCH IN CHAMPAGNE GO-OPERATE WITH AMERICANS.
ENEMY'S LINES PENETRATED TO DEPTH OF FOUR MILES GERMAN PREPARATIONS IN ANTICIPATION OF ATTACK. 'Australian and N.Z. and Renter. LONDON, Sept. 26. A French communique says: At five o'clock this morning we attacked in the Champagne in co-operation with the American Army, operating farther east. Hiph Commissioner's Cable. (Rood. 9 p.m.) LONDON, Sept, 26-11.20 p.m. A French official communique states : In to-day's attacks we mad© progress at certain points to a depth of four miles. .The battle continues. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association- PARIS, Sept. 26. The French Fourth Army is engaged in the new battle. The field of its attack is the same as that of the battle of September 25, 1915. The Germans seem to have been aware of the attack, as during the last week they multiplied their raids. Special rations were served out to the men.
