INTERNED IRISHMEN.
FOMENTATION OF REVOLT.
MATERIAL FROM GERMANY*
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.25 p.m.) SYDNEY, Sept- 27.
The report of the Royal Commission which inquired into the caßes of the seven interned Irishmen says that the leaders of the movement in Australia made use of 'the Irish National Association to further their aims, but it is not known that the rank and file of the association had any knowledge of" their communications with Germany. Referring to Dryer, one of those interned, the report says that his association with Germany was not from any love of Germany, but because in his view, any means waß justifiable to injure Britain, whom he regarded as the enemy and oppressor of Ireland. Regarding Dalton, another of the interned men', the report expresses grave suspicion that the presscription for a fire "dope," similar to that used by the I.W.W. at Sydney, found in Dalton's possession, was obtained on the chance that 1 it, might become useful to himself or his comrades. MELBOURNE. Sept, 27. The report of the Royal Commission which inquired into the cases of the seven interned Irishmen, states that there was no evidence that the men were, connected with enemy persons in the Commonwealth, but the interned men, who are members of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, had collected money here to assist armed rebellion in Ireland. The money was being expended for the purchase of 3 war material from Germany, with which country the leaders of the movement were in communication. Cabinet has decided that the detention of the interned men shall be continued.
