Pearce, Federal Minister for Defence: " All our divisions participated in the recent successful operations, and again distinguished themselves by their gallant bearing, which could not have been beaten. Our corps alone captured 5000 prisoners and 100 guns. Our casualties were extraordinarily small, owing to the complete surprise of the whole operation." (Received 5.5 p.m.) OTTAWA. Aug. 10. A Canadian correspondent, describing the Canadian and Australian advance, praises the staff work and the operations of the tanks and cavalry.
