PROMOTIONS ON SERVICE.

THREE AUCKLAND OFFICERS. News has been received by Mr. J. Ziman, of Auckland, that his son, Louis I. Ziman, who left New Zealand with the twentyninth reinforcements as a corporal in the Field Engineers, has obtained a sublioutenancy in the Auxiliary Fleet. Lieutenant Luois I. Ziman is an ex-scholar of the Auckland Grammar School, and served his apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer with Messrs Fraaer and Son, Auckland. He also had a four-years' course in electrical construction and engineering in England. He is well-known among Auckland hockey players, in which game he took a keen interest. Dr. C. C. Clioyco, eldest son of Mr, H. C. _ Choyce, of Auckland, has been appointed consulting surgeon in surgical charge of the Delta District and West forces, including Cairo, Suez, and Lsrriailia, with the title of lieutenant-colonel. For tho last three years Lieutenant-Colonel Choyce held the rank of major and was senior surgeon of the 19th General Hospital Alexandria. He was educated at the Auckland Grammar School and Auckland University College, and wan practising m consulting surgeon in Wirapolo Street, London. Word ha« also been received that Mr. Choyco's youngrot son, Arthur, who is in the navy, has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
