PROPOSAL FOR ALLIANCE. W. R. HEARST'S OLD PLAN. A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON'. April 10. Dr. L. B. Sperry, Professor at Syracuse University, giving evidence before [ the Senate sub-committee, said that W. R Hearst suggested organising an inter* I national German alliance in 1907, offering I to pay the expenses of American delegates i to a proposed European convention. 'Received 8 46 p.m.) Reuter. WASHINGTON. April 10. Professor Sperry stated that W. R. Hearst's suggestion to establish a GermanAmerican alliance met with the full approval of the German Government. Its members in many instances, as individuals, were active in tho interests of Germany. The funds for the proposed American delegation were obtained almost exclusively from German-American sources.
