'SOLDIERS' GIFTS CAMPAION.

MARLY £8000 SUBSCRIBED. The campaign to raiso £25,000 to provide gift parcels (or soldiers at the front, and . to subsidise regimental funds, is progress* ing satisfactorily. The "promise" card! loft by the canvassers at bouses in the suburbs are now boing returned, and nearly £8000 has now been subscribed to tho fund. The most important feature connected with the campaign to-day will be the monster procession by the Auckland Women 1 ! Patriotic League. It promises to be a very spectacular event, and will portray the j work and activities of the league at homo I and -abroad. It is believed that tho pro* | cession will be over hall-a-milo in length, and it will include 17 decorated lorriei. Following the vehicular portion of tho pro« | cession will come the members of the league, headed by the Mayoress. Mrs. J. H. Giuison. The colours of the league will be very prominent. The procession will leave the foot of Queen Street at 12.30 p.m., traversing Queen Street, Wcllcsley Street East, Hobson Street, Karangahape Road, and returning vij Upper Queen Street, The Mayoress neks that citizens make a liberal display of flags and bunting. At an early hour the Town Hall presented a busy scene. While tho campaign to raise funds for the gift scheme con'-' tinues the public will nave tho opportunity of handing in their donations at. the league's committee rooms, in Queen Street.
