WAIRARAPA RACING CLUB.

MEETING AT TAUHERENIKAU. [BY TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Wednesday. THERE is every indication of fine weather for tho opening day of tho Wairarapa Racing Club's mooting. Lilydale. Exclusive, and Bluegown are not eligible to start in the opening event. The favourite may be the Kilbroncy—Armilla filly Blighty, a member of the Porinia team. Nanna, Waimatoa, and Lingerie aro unlikely starters in the "Wardcll Handicap, and Lady Black, who always races well in the autumn, and Crowhurol, will be tho best I backed. . Parisian Diamond is engaged in the Welter, run later in the day, and his owner may elect to start him in this, as a victory would not entail a penalty for tho Easter Handicap at Ellerslie. Mtiltivc is top weight in the Hack Welter, and is expected to improve on his Napier form. Manu has been working well at Otaki. and should bo at her best now. Reports stato that alio lias shown up well in several gallops with Waimatoa. The Cup has drawn tho best field seen on tho Wairarapa course for many year?. Tha weight will probably anchor Mcnehus. Locally, Red Ribbon is favourite, but Demotion and Nanna will carry a lot of money. The Trentham representative, Misn Dt-va'. is back to form, and ran the best Bis furlongs at headquarters on Tuesday. She is to be ridden by C. Emerson, and can be expected to play a bold part in the decision ot the race. If Parisian Diamond starts in tho Wel'er Handicap he will have iho services of S. Roid, and though ilv field is a large one. ho will sec a very short price on the machine. If Demos is caught at his best the contest with Chantry in the Nursery Handicap should b« a very keen one, as both can go half o mile very fast. The draw for positions will most likely decido which of the pair will be favourite. Tho Soldiers' Cup is run over a mile and n distance, which will be too far for most of the contestants. The top weight. Midnight Star, is to have the services of J. O'Sbea. and such a good stayer should be more than able to hold his own with the poor lot opposed to him Ayah, the top weight in the Mokahi Handicap, has not been too sound lalelv, and the owner has been unable to do much with her. Hydros has been without a race for a lone time and may require a public outing. Recent form points to Rajput. Pervolo, and Orawia a? being in the front rank when the judge's box is reached.
