m WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. £18,164 FROM 9810 TONS. ' TOTAL TO DATE, £1,402,940. The Waihi Grand Junction Gold Mining Company, during the period ended October 28 last, crushed and treated 9810 tons of ore for a return of bullion valued at T818.164 3s. Compared with the return for the corresponding period of last year, when 10,100 tons yielded £16,016 7a Id, this shows an increase of £214715s ild. The total amcsnt of bullion won from the mine to date is £1,402,940 5s Id. whilst the dividends paid total £180,000. The following is a copv of a cablegram forwarded yesterday to the London office of the company: —" No. 8 level : The crosscut to the south-east has been advanced to 101 ft." FOUR-IN-HAND. . RETURN OF £565. The Four-in-Hand Gold Mining Company, Coromandel, during the period from October 1 to November 5 last cvtslied and treated 6* tons of general ore and 1251b of picked st-ne for a return of 2060z I3dwt of retorted bullion, valued at £565. WAIHI EXTENDED. The manager of the Waihi Extended mine reports that the shaft has been sunk a further 3ft, making a total of 203 ft below No. 6 level. The reduced amount of sinking reported is due to the mine closing down during the week for the annual boiler inspection. The shaft is still going through hard mineralised dacite, ca. ■-- ing quartz seams. • This country is a particularly good class of stone, -ad compares with the stone carrying the values in the adjoining claims. The secretary of the company, Mr. J. W. Nichol, states that only 97ft of the shaft remains to be sunk, in order to attain the depth —3ooft re-
