DEVONPORT AFFAIRS.
SEATS FOR THE BEACH
The Devonport Borough Council met 'ast night, the Mayor, Mr. .T. Henderson, presiding. There were also present : Messrs. P. W. McCallum. W. K.'Howitt, F. V. Thompson, J. P. Wright, 0. J. Smith, W. S. Stone, A. Nixon, and J. A. Walker.
It was derided, on the recommendation of the Legal and Finance Committee, to consent to the placing of seating accommodation on Cheltenham Beach for the convenience of the public. The Mayor stated that no building in which to store the chairs would be permitted to bo erected. The beach would in no respect be interfered with.
The Public Works and Services Committee, reporttd that the matter of slips at the corner of Lake Road and Mozley Avenue was in the hands of the foreman of works.
Draft by-laws in connection with the borough fire brigade were brought down, and consideration was deferred for a. month-
