MORE RTRTHS THAN DEATHS.
DECREASED MARRIAGES.
The number of births and deaths registered to Auckland last month showed =an increase compared with the figures for October, 1915, but in the marriages a. decrease is shown. The births in tho month just dosed totaled 305, as against 270 in the corresponding period of 'ast year, an increase of 35. Deaths totalling 133 were recorded last month, as against 105 for October. 1915, an increase of 28. Marriages during the past month totalled 87, inclusive of 22 bv the registrar as compared with 181, including 40 before the registrar, in October, 1915, a decrease of 94. In the case of the last-named the respective totals include manages by the registrar as follow :—1916, 299 ; 1915 340.
