CANTERBURY'S SPECIAL EFFORTS.
ACTION ON PART OP CITIZENS. [by TELEGRAPH.— pbess association.] CHSISTCHUECH. Tuesday. A meeting of citizens, convened by the Major, was held this afternoon to consider the recruiting problem. It was generally agreed that special efforts should be made to fill up the gaps in the recent reinforcements, and it was decided to make appeals nightly at various picture theatres, the proprietors having consented to allow speeches to be made at the performances. It was also resolved that local bodies throughout Canterbury be asked to forward the movement.
