OLD PUPILS' REUNION.
—. « I AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOLS. A conversazione to commemorate the opening of the new Auckland Grammar School was held in the school last evening under tho auspices of the Old Boys' Association. In--vitations were extended to ex-pupils, including the girls who attended the old school in Symonds Street. Mr. Carlton Hay, president of the association, took! the chair. He expressed his regret at the absence of Sir Maiuico O'ltorke, chairman of the Grammar School Board. Referring to Mr. Tibbs, the chairman said that tho members of the association were delighted that their headmaster was tho first head of tho new school. (Applause.) Short addresses were given by the Hon. A. M. Myers and the Hon. G. Fowlds, both of whom spoke highly of the part which pupils of the Grammar School had played in Auckland in the Dominion and in the Empire. Dr. H; D. Bamford, on, behalf of tho association, and Mr. V. R Meredith for tho Wellington branch of tho association, expressed their best wishes for tho prosperity of tho school in its new homo. Mr. J. W. Tibbs, headmaster, responding, spoke of the difficulties which had attended the teaching in tho old school of 750 boys. He acknowledged the great advantages of the new building, but pointed out that along with better facilities camo greater responsibility. Songs wero rendered by Messrs. E. MacC'ormick and R. H. Dellow. Light, refreshments wero served, after enjoying which tho company mado a tour of the school. Orchestral selections were played at intervals.
