PRICES IN MESOPOTAMIA.
o — A sergeant serving with the. Relieving Foreo in Mesopotamia, in a letter home, states that though the men have money, they can buy nothing there, as all supplies have to be brought by mule transport. A man's kit had been sold by auction, when 50 cigarettes brought 8r 8a (lis 4d), while 24 penny bars of chocolate fetched 45r (£3). He bought two bars for 4r 4a (5s 8d), and it was well worth it. Cigarettes at 2jd each and ponny bars of chocolate at 2s 9d would, no doubt, bo a record figure even, in these times of enhanced prices
