INTENSELY LOYAL PROOF BY HUGE MAJORITY, STATEMENT BY MR. MASBEY. [BY TELEGRAPH.—PEESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. Referring to the Dublin riots in a speech at a public gathering at the opening of the Soldiers' Hostel this afternoon, the Sighs Hon. W. F. Massey said:-"The news comes to me as a shock and disappointment, but do not let it be imagined for a moment that the majority of the Irish people are disloyal- The huge majority of the Irish are intensely loyal, and will prove their loyalty before the trouble goes far. I hope the outbreak will be put down with a strong hand, and that Sir Roger Casement, and other traitors who have been acting with him, will receive • the full punishment which traitors deserve. i The difficulty must be faced promptly, 1 but it can be done and the war carried on I to victory at the same time. PROTEST BY HIBERNIANS. > , "ABHORRENCE AND REGRET." The conference of the New Zealand District of the Hibernian Australasian : Catholic Benefit Society, which has been " in session during the past two days in Auckland, and which is attended by repre- , sentatives from every part of the Dominion, unanimously decided to send the following cable message to. Mr. J- E. -Red- ' mond, leader of the Irish Party:-' The New Zealand Hibernians, at their annual ' conference now sitting in Auckland, have learned with abhorrence and regret of the disturbances in Dublin- Also they desire to express their deep sympathy _ with and entire confidence in you, the Irish Party, and followers."
