TURKS APPARENTLY ABANDON ATTACK ON KATIA.
ENEMY TAKEN BY SURPRISE BY AEROPLANE SQUADRON CAMP DESTROYED AND MANY CASUALTIES INFLICTED. London, April 25. Eight aeroplanes made an attack on Monday on the enemy camp at Katia, 35 miles from El Kantara. They effected a complete surprise, and the camp was completely destroyed. Severe casualties were inflicted by the bombs and machine-gun fire from the aeroplanes. There has been no further fighting since Monday, and the enemy appears to be withdrawing from the Katia district. The fighting in the Katia district on Saturday was more severe than was at first reported. A company of Royal Scots gallantly defended the Bir-el-Duweidar oasis. The enemy left "0 killed and 28 prisoners, in addition to 5000 rounds of small-arm ammunition, four machine-gun belt boxes full, 28 shells, and 80 rifles. The Australian Horse, during the pursuit, inflicted further loss, and took prisoner a number of others. One mounted brigade was engaged throughout the day.
