BOND OF INTIMATE ALLIANCE AND MUTUAL CONFIDENCE
MENACE OF AGGRESSION MUST BE FINALLY REMOVED.
(Received April 11, 6.30 p.m.)
London, April 10.
A welcome was given by His Majesty the King at Buckingham Palace to the 30 members of the French Legislature, who are visiting England as delegates to the inter-Parliamentary ' Conference.
His Majesty said: "I rejoice to b'e united with tho French people by an intimate alliance and mutual confidence. 1 trust the alliance is destined to be perpetual.
" Your visit will enable you to see the strenuousness of our efforts to provide the requirements of the army and the navy. You will learn the depth of my peoples' sympathy for the sufferings which a ferocious invader has caused in France, and the warmth of our admiration for the splendid valour and constancy of the whole of the French people. Never has the undaunted spirit and unquenchable hopefulness, of which French history is full of glorious examples, shone with mora brilliant lustre.
" The allies are determined to prosecute the war until the menace of aggression which has long darkened Europe's sky, and threatened the prospects of peaceful progress the world over, has been finally removed."
