GREECE WILL SHOW HER TEETH WHENEVER SHE CAN.

ANTIPATHY TO BRITISH AND FRENCH WIDESPREAD. INTIMIDATION THE ONLY CARD FOR THE ALLIES. London, December 9. Dr. Dillon writes: "The Greek attitude to the allies is like that of a dog about to bite his master, but who has baulked at sight of tne whip, and is obliged to content himself with snarling. The allies convinced King Constantine that drastic measures would be taken if he even attempted disloyal action. Therefore Greece is condemned to unprofitable, irksome inocuousness. The rulers, however, are determined to show their teeth whenever they can with impunity. " The allies will probably obtain their minimum demands from Greece, but onlyjhold their demands by intimidation. The obstacles are almost insuperable. The chief wire-puller is Dr. Streit, an exMinister of Austrian descent, whose strategy tripped M. Venizelos. Thousands of Greek officers and civil servants, and tens of thousands of their friends, are propagating the mailed fist doctrine everywhere. Armies of spies and contingents of contrabandists thwart the allies at every turn, while Government agents frustrate every effort to track treacherous enemies to their lairs. " It is wrong to suppose that King Constantine is alone blameworthy for misleading a chivalrous people. Actually the antipathy to the British and French is widespread. The fact is that Greece may be cowed to passive resistance, but her promises are worthless. The military situation is grave."
