FRENCH AERIAL FLEET GREATLY INCREASED.
MORE MACHINES, MORE MEN, MORE SCHOOLS.
PARIS GUARDED FROM HOSTILE RAIDERS.
Times *nd Sydney Sun Services.
London, September 16.
The correspondent of the London Times at Paris says: "It has been decided to create a Ministry of Aviation. This is the logical sequence of the great development of the French aviation service. Since the outbreak of the war tho number of aeroplanes has been increased seven times. New types have appeared, the motors arei three times as powerful, the carrying capacity of the machines has been trebled, their radius of action doubled, and their speed increased 30 per Vent. Training schools have sprung up everywhere for preparing pilots, mechanics, observation officers, and sharpshooters. More pilots are now trained in a month than formerly in a year.
" These achievements have been made possible by the extraordinary activity of the French air service, to which last month's results and the laconic communiques issued daily eloquently testify. Since the Zeppelin raid of March 20 all attempts of the German airmen to reach Paris have failed."
