FURTHER IMPRISONMENTS. "SEER" SENT TO GAOL. (Received September 10, 11 p.m.) Pretoria, September* 10. j Forty-two followers of Major Kemp have received sentences varying from nine months' to three years' imprisonment. The so-called prophet, Van Rensburg, who had considerable influence in "Western Transvaal, has been sent to gaol for IS months.
A picturesque figure' in the South African rebellion was Van Rensburg, the "eeer" of Lichtenburg, who worked upon the beliefs and credulitv of a section of the Boer population, Hie influence among the ignorant was very great, and they attached great importance to his "dreams" and advice.
