FIGHT OFF RIGA.
GERMAN NAVAL LOSSES. _____ \ BATTLESHIP DISABLED. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, September 9. A Copenhagen message states that the losses of the German navy in the fight off Riga were more serious than was expected. In addition to the units already mentioned, several other ships were bit, some by mines and others were torpedoed or hit by Russian artillery. Scandinavian navigators saw a great German ship of the Friedrich der Grosse type (a battleship of 24,310 tons) surrounded by lighters, being towed away.
