A subcommittee, consisting of Messrs. George Elliot. H. Horton. A. S. Bankart, N. A. "Nathan, V. J. Lanier, and C. Rhodes, was £et up to confer on the question with a sub-committee of the War Relief Association. The committee authorised the payment of £500 for relief work in the Auckland Domain. Delegates to Conference. The Mayor and Messrs. W. Spragg and C. J. Parr. M.P., wera appointed to attend a conference in Wellington on July 28 to consider proposals for consolidating patriotic funds. In a circular hid before the meeting it was stated that at a preliminary conference, at which the Mayors of Christchurcli and Wellington were present, it was realised that any scheme involving the pooling of ths dieting district funds would not be acceptable, as it would "tend to eliminate that healthy rivalry and emulation which exists between the various districts and communities." It was, however, considered desirable that some system should obtain" whereby uniformity of administration in the various districts might be obtained and overlapping might be eliminated. Principles for Operating Funds. The general principles on which th» funds should operate were suggested a3 follows:—"That" the domicile of th» applicant shall determine the district fund upon which rests the obligation to grant relief; that the uniform scale of relie'f by the conference be the relief granted to dependents; to safeguard the funds and avoid overlapping, any applications for grants likely to affect other district fund* shall be at once referred to the committee interested."

A letter was received from the Trentbam Camp Committee acknowledging a donation of £50 from the league, and statin? that up to June 22 a sum of £440 13s lOd had been expended in comforts for th» men, such as tobacco and fruit.
