RIYERINA ARRIVES.

= m A STORMY PASSAGE. ——— "■ k^s^Sh VESSEL DELAYED BY FOG, '-<'i ■ ~j9| ■ MM After an unusually lengthy and rough voyage, the Huddart-Parker steamer Riverina arrived in port from Sydnev at " : , noon yesterday. The journey. which usually takes the Riverina about 3' fllf days 18 hours, occupied on this occasion nearly six days. fjli The sky had been overcast all the way across the Tasman Sea. and when the ,@§l vessel was approaching the Three Kings '~OM on Sunday afternoon the conditions sr*v« 1111 every indication of a coming storm. From Friday onwards it was impossible to determine the vessel's posi- 38 tion by either sun or stars. The engines " ?: ~ were stopped, and at 10.15 p.m. on Sun- - day soundings were taken, showing depths varying from 70 to 100 fathoms. The vessel drifted about for two davs. soundings being taken every hour. Captain Entwisle assumed that he was b-twe<» n the Three Kings and Cape Maria Van Diemen, and this calculation proved to be correct. The Riverina made splendid time coming down the Mast, but was delayed, for over an hour off Tiritiri by a thick mist.
