JAPANESE SHIP ASHORE.
STRANGE AMERICAN STORY. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, April 22. The Los Angeles newspapers declare that the Japanese cruiser Asama, 9885 tons, was purposely stranded at Turtle Bay, on the western coast of the United States, early in the war in order to give the Japanese warships an excuse for occupying the hay as a base.
