NO MINERS' STRIKE.
DECISION OF CONFERENCE. VERY LARGE MAJORITY. MEETING WITH AUTHORITIES London, April 22. The Miners' Conference, by 570,000 votes against 135,000, defeated a resolution in favour of a national strike. The conference passed a resolution asking the Government to summon a National Conference. Mr. Runciman met the coalowners at Whitehall to-day. As an outcome of the meeting with Mr. Runciman, President of the Board of Trade, the colliery owners have agreed to recommend the various districts to consider the lowering of the price of coal.
