BATTLE ON THE NIEMEN.
GERMANS IN RETREAT. Wellington, April 2. The Prime Minister has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, April 1: " Petrograd reports progress in the environs of Krasna, west of the Niemen. On Tuesday the Germans were forced to fall back hurriedly, leaving 200 prisoners. " In the Carpathians the Russians bombarded Zunguldak, Kosla, Kilimli, and Eregli, causing a series of explosions and a number of fires."
