FARMERS' RIFLE CLUB.
Those who are organising the Farmers' Union Mounted Rifle Club are meeting with a very hearty response. From all quarters, declared Major Lusk, president of the Auckland Provincial Farmers' Union, the enrolment has been very large and very rapid. The only trouble has been the primary difficulty of getting the men armed. If they had plenty of rifles any number of additional men would come forward, but a number were holding back owing to the shortage of rifles. The scheme was taking a hold all over the country, and men in the prime of life were very keen. He considered before the organising was concluded they would have at least 2000 members.
