AUSTRIANS SACRIFICED BY THE GERMANS.

OWN TROOPS SPARED AT COST OF ALLIES.

POLES AND HUNGARIANS BEAR BRUNT OF FIGHTING.

(Received October 26, 11 p.m.)

Petrograd, October 25.

A semi-official message says that there has been much fighting between Radom and Ivangorod. When the Russians pursued the Germans they found many Austrians among the retreating force. Evidently the German corps operating in this . region were strengthened by Austrian infantry brigades, upon whom the Germanß imposed everywhere the task of forming a rearguard. By thus sacrificing the Austrians the Germans succeeded in sparing their own troops. The heaviest fighting was allotted to the First Polish and Fifth Hungarian Corps.
