Tin: Rev. J. Dawson arrived in Auck land on Saturday afternoon.

The Hon. W. K. Nikora, M.L.C., returned to Auckland from Wellington on Saturday.

Mr. L. F. Ayson, chief inspector of fisheries, returned to Auckland yesterday, after inspecting the oyster-beds "in the Hauraki Gulf.

The Rev. R. Inglis, of the Knox Presbv terian Church, Parnell, leaves for Wellington to-day, on a holiday trip. He, later, proceeds to Dunedin, where he will attend the sittings of the Presbyterian General Assembly.

James Allen, .Minister for Finance, Defence and Education, visited Auckland during the week end, arriving by the first express on Saturday and returning to Wellington by last evening's train. He visited the camp of the Maori troops at Avondale on Saturday morning, and was occupied during the rest of the day with Departmental business. The Minister was accompanied by one of his daughters, Mrs. Montgomery, of Little River, Canterbury, and his private secretary, Mr. F. G. -Matthews.
