WELCOME HOME AGAIN

ire Maori "king.'' To Rata, who has just returned from London, arrived hero this morning from Mercer, accompanied by a large number of followers, lie was welcomed by a largo crowd of Europeans and Maoris, and as lie left the train ho was met by Mr. J. I'. Bailey, chairman of the Hnntlv Town Board. Mr. Bailey welcomed To Rata hack from his journey, and wished him long life and continued prosperity.
To Rata in a few words, acknowledged the reception accorded him, expressed his gratification at Mr. Bailcv's welcome, and said ho was glad to bo hack again with the country and the people he loved.
A procession, headed by (hp native brass band, appropriately garbed, then formed up, and, preceded and followed by standard-bearers, left for the native town of Waahi, where great rejoicings arc in progress.
