FUNDS INCREASING STEADILY

The country centres in the Auckland Province continue to provide men for the expeditionary force and the various war funds arc increasing steadily.

A further detachment of the 6th, Hauraki, Regiment left Paeroa on SaturdrJ morning under the command of Sergt. R. Pearco. The members of the detachment were:—T. M. Davis, F. Simmonds, J. J. The, rest of the men from the ITauraki Regiment will leave Paeroi to-day or to-morrow.

A demonstration lor the purpose of augmenting the Waihi Patriotic Fund was held yesterday afternoon. Patriotic addresses, interspersed with items by the bands present, were delivered by the .Mayor and Messrs. D. Donaldson and V. H. Potter. Members of the Women's Committeo took up collections and disposed of badges, their efforts substantially augmenting the fund which is growing rapidly. Already £515 has been received and it, is expected that from £800 to £900 will be raised. Nearly £500 was raised in Rotorua, over £400 being secured by women canvassers. The Chamber of Commerce voted £20, while the Maoris have paid in £33 and have other money in hand, their intention being to raise £100. It iB boned to raise £500 altogether. The Civil Servants at Waihi havo decided to give one's day pay towards the fund. The Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union is giving a transport wagj iron, and is taking steps to havo it made at once Early on Saturday afternoon the mounted troops at Gisborne, who have been concentrated at tho camp at the Park racecourse, ■ marched into Gisborne and commenced | shipping their horses into the steamers Fanny and Ripple. The Fanny, which took tho majority of the horses and a few troopers to look after them, left at 4 p.m. ; for Napier, while the Ripple, with a few horses and the majority of the 50 troopers, pot away at six o'clock. The infantry division departed by the Tarawera on Sunday evening. The Gisborne Savage ! Club has raised £757 towards tho war fund. I Contributions in money and kind continue to pour into the No. 4 group fund lat Hamilton, and the whole of the men from tho area will leave fully equipped. There are at present over 300 men concentrated in the depot in Hamilton, com- : prising mounteds, artillery, and infantry, land it is expected that a detachment of I about 150 will be sent on to the Auckland camp to-day. Yesterday morning I the contingent marched to Seddon Park, where service was conducted by Chaplain Cowie, of the 4th, Waikatos. A second contingent of 40 men wili , leave Dargaville on Wednesday for Auck ; land, A street collection in Dargaville or [Saturday realised £75.

SOUTHERN CONTINGENTS.

MEN GOING TO THE CAMP.

Steady progress is being made in the South with the work of taking the volunteers to the concentration camps.

About 1000 people farewclled 66 troopers who left Daiinevirke for Palmerston North on Saturday. This was tho third batch to leave Dannevirke during last week. A company of 61 men will leave Napier for Palmerston North to-day.

Similar expedition is being shown in tho South Island. A total of 119 men left Wcstport on Saturday, and several parties have loft Timaru for the camp at Ciiriet-churclx.
