FAREWELL MESSAGE.

Wellington, Saturday.
Tho following farewell message to the Auckland people from tho members of tiro Auckland detachment of tho advance guard of tho New Zealand Expeditionary Force was forwarded to tho Wellington represent of the Herald by an Aucklandcr on ono of tho transports on behalf of Major Kay late last night:
"To-night the kit-bags provided by the ladies were given out, and I cannot express in words bow grateful the boys are. Thev havo desired me to oak you, through tho Herald, to publicly thank tho ladies of Auckland for their great kindness, and also the citizens of the Queen city for the magnificent send off. They further desire to assure the people of Auckland that, whatever happens, Auckland will not have occasion to be ashamed of them. Goodbye and good luck."
