MOUNT WELLINGTON BOARD.

At a special meeting of the Mount Wellington Road Board on Tuesday afternoon, Mr. I. Wymer presiding, and all the members being present, it was resolved that a loan of £850 be raised for the purpose of paying the board's proportion of the cost of rebuilding tho Panmure Bridge over tie Taraaki River. It was further decided to levy a special rate of one twenty-second part of a penny in tho pound upon tho capital ratable value of the board's district, such rate to continue during the currency of the loan, a period of 36j yeais from November 1, 1914.

The ordinary monthly meeting of tho board followed. On the motion of the chairman, it was resolved to levy a rate of fivo-eighths of a penny in the pound on tho capital value of the district, to cover the expenditure for tho ensuing year. A letter was rend from tho Department of Public Works, stating that the Department could not agTeo to the board's suggested exchange of road reserve .land for the purpose of effecting an improvement in the Penrose Road, but there appeared to be.no reason against the board selling some of the land if it thought fit, providing the road was left one chain wide. The board instructed tho clerk to take the necessary steps to close 2a 2r 38p, with a view to the disposal of th© same at a proper valuation.
